Become a sales representative

Backed by
South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership

Like many parts of the country, the South Bend area has seen its economy go through multiple booms and busts over the years, adding and shedding employment accordingly. To help provide a measure of stability, WorkOne of Northern Indiana, the region’s workforce development board, collaborated with the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership to identify what they call “lifeboat jobs.”

Lifeboat jobs—a term coined by the labor market research firm Burning Glass—are characterized by a predicted wage of at least $15 an hour; ease of entry in terms of the level of education and experience required; high employer demand; and the opportunity to leverage your skills into other, even better jobs.

We sat down with Leighton Johnson, SBERP’s director of education and workforce initiatives, to help us create a Career Collection that will position you for one of these relatively resilient occupations: sales.

As you successfully complete each course, you’ll earn a digital badge to mark your progress. You’ll then receive a Bendable Sales Representative badge when you’ve finished all of the required learning experiences.
