You and your family may need immediate help with food access, medical insurance or cash assistance. The state’s Family and Social Services Administration website is available 24/7 to apply for cash benefits through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, food stamps through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or medical insurance through Medicaid. Once you complete the application for any of these benefits, you will have the option of requesting a phone or in-person appointment within just a few days.
CareSource Healthcare Coverage
If you are one of the tens of millions of Americans without health coverage, CareSource may be able to help. It provides low-cost, often free, medical insurance and offers many other options, including dental care and supportive services. CareSource staff members will not only walk you through the process, they will even complete the application for you. Many of my clients in the re-entry process have also been paired with a CareSource life coach to assist them with furthering their education, finding employment and other goals.
